Literacy This Week 2016 29/6/16

For the last few weeks Mr Wiseman's Literacy class has been reading a book called BFG. Every day Mr Wiseman, read's the BFG to us for 20min, so far we are nearly to the end of the book. There is a girl named Sophie she met the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) she thought he was really scary but when she got to know him she got used to him. Half way through the story Sophie and her new friend the BFG had to warn the queen, so they made the queen have a bad dream come true.

Then after we read the BFG Mr Wiseman tells us to have a "2min stretch" then we get straight into our literacy. First we read the whole journal then we have to complete our reading presentation. After we have worked our way through the presentation and after we have read the book, we go to the teacher (Mr Wiseman).

This week for writing we have been using personification and similes to make a poem up. Similes, If you don't know what similes are then here are some examples, As slow as a snail, As fast as a cheetah, As tall as a giraffe. Personification, If you are wondering what is Personification, well here are some examples of Personification, the wind whistled throughout the day, the wind yells while blowing, the car danced across the icy road. That's what personification is.

My Poetry About If I Were Queen Or King For A Day

This week we have been learning all about poems. We had to complete three rhyme scheme's then we had to write one of our own poems. Here is my poem about If I were King or Queen for a day.

Trapped

This week my reading group has been reading a text called Trapped. Trapped is all about sand tunnels. Erika is Toby's Twin sister. This article is about sand tunnels, the main part of this article is trying to save Toby because he got trapped in a sand Tunnel. Underneath that presentation is a poster for students (kids), to stay out of the Tunnels because you will get really hurt, I really hope children will stay out of Sand Tunnels because there is alot of reasons to do so but there is only two reasons on the poster.

The bell went “Ring Ring Ring,” all of the netball girls ran as quick as a cheetah to the hall. My team the (Flavaz) were very excited to play our third grading game.The whistle blowed, then the game started. All of the girls on the court had Manoeuvre around to get the ball. On the first quarter we were losing by 4 points, but out of nowhere we caught up to them just like that, then it was a tie.

Second Quarter, it started pouring down with rain, the rain felt cold as Antarctica. On the second quarter St Kent's were beating us again. Myself and GS (May) could have gotten more shots in, but our hands were frozen like an Ice Sculpture. The girls in the St Kent's team were pulling the netball ball out of hands very Vigorously. The umpires were Exasperated because our team weren't playing properly.

Last Quarter, on the last quarter my team mates and I were very Motionless, because we were very cold like the water from Antarctica. The last Quarter was just a fun game for us because we were losing by Miles. At the end of the game the score was 9-12.

The Battle

This week my reading group has been reading a journal about the battle. This journal is about a boy who wanted to fit in with the others to get his granddads medal. Timiona has been searching for his granddads medal since he has heard alot of story's about it, he wanted to get it back for his granddad.
