Caterpillars

We have been reading about Monarch caterpillars. In this story a boy and his Koro watch as a two Monarch  caterpillar eggs transforms into butterflies. The author wrote this story about Monarch butterfly life cycles and people life cycles too. When the creature is young we have to protect them, feed them and look after them. When they become older they fly away and they start the life cycle again.

The Life Cycle of a Monarch Butterfly

Here is my report about a Monarch butterfly.

The Egg:
The life cycle begins with the female butterfly attaching the egg near to a milk weed plant. The female butterfly lays her eggs next to the milk weed so when it turns into a caterpillar it has something to eat.

The Caterpillar:
When the egg  has grown  into a caterpilla. The caterpillar eats and eats untill it is very fat. Then it think’s  that he’s finish eating then he turns into a crysalis or larva.

The Chrysalis:
The caterpillar turns inside out and it hangs from a swan plant and it pushes it’s old skin off. Another name for a chrysalis is called pupa the crysalis has species. Did you know that the chrysalis can blend into the background.

The Monarch Butterfly:
When the chrysalis has been open the butterfly comes out with beautiful colours like orange, black. When a male butterfly comes it has two little black dots if you see black dots that is a male butterfly and then one with no dots that is a female butterfly.

Parakai Pools

Have you been to Parakai Pools Before?

In the holidays I went to Parakai Pools with the Dunkirk holiday programme. As we had arrived to Parakai pools I was so excited to go on the slide. The green slide was so high and the blue slide was shorter than the bigger one.

Then me and my friend Lucy went to the deep pool it was so deep that me and Lucy couldn’t touch the ground but we swam a little closer to the shallow part to play tiggy.

Next me and Lucy went down the slide. It was so hard to get up all of those stairs I was tired because we went lots of times. The last slide we went on was the big one me and Lucy stood up on the slide, when all the people went past us they were trying to pull us down.

After that we went to the inside pools. It was so hot that I couldn’t even stay in the water for long. It felt like the water was burning me up into flames.

Next we had to go and get changed out of our togs. I was the first one to get out of our togs I had forgot that my togs were very soggy.
