Cricket U12's Team

For the past few weeks the under 12 girls cricket team have been playing every Saturday. The under 12 girls cricket team played for a club named Ellerslie.

 

On the very very first game we played Cornwall park, we were very excited to play our first game. Firstly the captain for our team had to do the toss it was either mountains or valleys, we won the toss so we picked fielding first. It was so surprising to see the students in our team bowl for the first time, everybody tried their best. In the end we won! After our game we went to McDonald's to have a nice frozen coke or an ice cream.

 

On the very last game we got told that our team was coming 1st for the competition we were undefeated "yay." But we got to verse the very very first team we ever played again but the sad thing was that they needed extra players for their team, so we kindly gave two players from our team to their team. It was really weird playing against two of our team players but it was okay because we got to see how really good they were.

To finish the year of we got invited to a Christmas party at the Ellerslie club, it was so cool meeting new friends throughout the party. We even got to win spot prizes, I won a cricket bat. That was our last game until next year.

Prizegiving Practices

During through out the term the teachers told us that Miss Tito was going to pick the song for the year 7 item, so some of the year 7 students had to go and audition for a part. But if you didn't get a part you still would of been in the dance crew.

Everyday for the last couple of weeks we have had a lot of time to practice our items, we didn't know what to do on the first practice but we got the hang of the moves and started to get better each time we had a practice.

When we got the hang of the moves, we got to see what the walking and the walking of practice with Mr Burt and the year 5,6,7 and 8 students were watching. When it was the year 7 students turn to walk on the stage we had to strike a pose, then Mr Burt said "show us your ending part" but we didn't know what to do.

Ashley Week 9&10 Reflection,Looking back and Looking forward

During this week I had to write a reflection all about looking back and looking forward during this year. I had to answer a couple of questions to get my paragraphs. I have written some things to show you what have happened this year.

How do you feel about this year? In the beginning of the year I was nervous to be a year 7 student at Pt England school. I also felt excited to be in the senior block with some new students. I felt happy to be the second oldest children of the school.

What did you find especially frustrating/difficult this year? This year something frustrating for me would have to be losing games for sports. Getting to wake up by 8:30 and to try and get to school by 8:30.

If you were to to give yourself a grade out of 10 - 10 being awesome…what would you grade yourself? Why? I will grade myself 9-10 because I have only missed one day of school this year. Even if I didn’t make it into some sport teams, I will never give up in anything.

What would you change for yourself in 2016? In 2016 I would improve myself to be a better Pt Englander student. I will also change the way I behave to teachers at Pt England school.

What might you want next year’s teacher to know about you (things you’re good at)? I want teachers to know that I am really awesome at sports and also really great at reading.

What things might you want more help with? I would want more help with maths and writing because those two subjects I find kind of hard. Sometimes in maths I find the equations hard for me to solve.

Maasai People W8 2015

On a Friday afternoon the room 1 students got to go to Miss Hocklys class to learn all about Maasai people. Firstly we watched a video clip and got ideas for our presentation. Warehouse Giving 2015 W8

Today the senior students had two visitors from the warehouse come and donate alot of money to our school. Firstly we had Toma start our prayer so everybody said the prayer with him, then Marilyn did the mihi. Lastly we had to sing a song and the song was E te Ariki.

After we sang the song our two visitors came up the front and introduced them selves. They talked about some things then the amazing part came up, as they were turning the voucher around everybody were excited as they showed the voucher to us all of the year 7&8 students were like  "Wow." Guess how much money they have donated to our school? They donated us over 1000 dollars wow that is amazing.

When they finished presenting the voucher to us they had a special surprise for Mr Burt, Mr Burt didn't even know what was going to happen next. He got an award with a $500 gift card it was so amazing to see Mr Burt get an award.

Next Josephine said a thank-you speech for them, then we had to sing another song and that song was Te-Aroha. Thank-you so much Warehouse for donating alot of money to our school.

What I have liked about this year? 2015

What have you liked about this year?

What I have liked about this year is that the year 7 students got to experience new things in the senior block. We got to explore what it seems to be the second oldest children in the school.

I really enjoyed having my home class teacher to be Mr Wiseman my literacy class teacher to be Miss Peato and last of all I didn't expect my maths class teacher to be Ms Hockly. All of the teachers I go to for something is really cool because they teach new things to us.

I have also liked that we got to meet new teachers at Pt England school and the year 7 students have made alot of friends with the year 8 students.

The year 7 students will miss all of the year 8 students because they have been great leaders to lead the school. The year year 8 students have taught the year 7 students to be great leaders for the school. When the year 7 students become year 8 student they will become the oldest children in the school.

Cardboard Expedition 2015

Cardboard Expedition

Yesterday morning while the year 8 students went to tech, the year 7 students got to enjoy the morning with Miss Formatu, Miss Tito, Miss Hockley, Mrs Tele’a and Mr Clarke. We had an awesome day with the Google cardboard Expedition.

While the year 8 students were leaving the year 7 students were getting into their Te Reo groups. While group 1 was with Miss Tito group 3 was with Mrs Tele’a in the street exploring the cardboard expedition.

As it was group 2 turn we had to sit down and wait for instructions. When Mr Clarke put a background up, so we got to explore the forest, space and even more. You had to spot a subject from every realistic location. When the visitors walked by they had a try too, Mrs Burt asked Mr Clarke if we could go to a location she picked for us.

It was a really fun experience to learn all about cardboard expedition. All of the locations were very cool to look at and to spot different things. If you didn’t know where to spot something a arrow will point to it for you.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2015

On Wednesday we got to go to Sylvia park to watch all of the fantastic movies. Ruapotaka school got to come along to watch all of the films for the first time. I think everybody enjoyed watching the films especially Ruapotaka school, for the first time Ruapotaka school actually liked the movies that the students of Pt England made. Please leave me comment

On a Wednesday sunny afternoon the year 7&8 students got to go to Sylvia park for the Manaiakalani film festival. For the first time Ruapotaka primary school got to come along with us and watched all of the fantastic films.

When we were getting on the busses everybody had excitement in them, It was funny because  we saw the Juniors coming back in the other busses. As we were getting to Sylvia park the students of pt england school tried to wave at other people to see if they will reply by waving back. Some people waved back but some people didn’t.

As we were getting of the bus's everybody had excitement in them. Everyone was jumping around to get into the theater, when we were going up the steps we saw some students from Ruapotaka school in the front of us, some were tall and some were short. When we walked through the entrance door you could smell yummy buttery popcorn. Some people bought money to buy thing to eat but we were not allowed to buy anything.

As we were getting into the theater everybody was so excited. When everybody took their seats Mr Burt introduced the opening of the films everybody made to show on the big screen. When Mr Burt finished talking a girl popped up on the screen she was introducing the opening of the Manaiakalani film festival. Everybody went quiet, we waited for the introduction to finish everybody we're excited to see the first movie that was going to show.

When the first presenters went up on the stage everybody was clapping and cheering for them, when everybody was cheering and applauding you could not hear what the presenters were saying. Then the movie played and everybody stopped cheering and applauding for them so they stopped clapping and started to enjoy the first movie, during the movie some people were laughing, cheering and clapping for them.

When the movie finished everybody started clapping and then the next amazing presenters came up on the stage they introduced themselves and what the movie was about. When they told everything we needed to know about the movie they went of the stage and the audience started clapping and the movie played.

All of the movies were amazing, when the presenters from my class went up on the stage everybody cheered their names out and they were clapping very loud for them. When the movie played everybody went quiet Mua, Sateki and Tevita showed up first because there the main characters in the movie. Everybody were laughing at the movie, our class didn’t get picked to be in the evening session we were sad but unless it got played.

When all of the manaiakalani movies were finished we headed of to the busses. The busses were late to come and pick Pt England students up so we waited and waited so we played hand games while we waited for the busses. When the busses arrived room 1 students and the presenters were the first people on the bus. Everybody else had to wait for the other busses.

The movie I liked the most was my class movie it was all about using bad words. It was so funny because Miss Longbottom had a funny noise to go with the rocking. There were a lot of laughing and clapping going throughout the films. Some people said “I liked room 1 movie” and that sounded amazing. I was really sad that we didn’t get to see the rest of the films, but I am really happy that everybody tried their best, at making the amazing films we got to watch.

Navy Band 2015

Two weeks ago on a sunny thursday morning, the New Zealand royal navy band got to entertain the students of pt england school with their talents.

After the bell rang after morning tea “ring ring” we ran fast to class and got into B.G lines. As we were walking to the hall we heard music playing very loud.

As we sat in our seats, one person introduced himself. He asked us to stand up and sing along with them, the song we sang was Roar. As we were singing the navy band instruments were going louder and louder.

Then they played us some movie themes from Spongebob, Star wars, Incredibles, Spy and many more. As they finished they were asking different students questions, then they had a turn at conducting the navy band. It was so funny watching students conduct because they were moving really funny.

During Tech!

What I am doing during tech?

Mr Pineda showed all of the students in graphics a video, it was all about how to design your own T-shirt or jumper. What me, Khaia and Marilyn are making is a T-shirt for our netball team. As we were designing our logos that we were going to put on our t-shirts, Mr Pineda showed us what the t-shirts should look like. The t-shirts he showed us were very colorful and cool.

The first thing we had to do was figure out what we are going to put on our T-shirt. On the front of our t-shirt there would be a superman logo and that will represent sorority that is our team name, on the back of our t-shirts at the bottom there will be our name.

As we were finishing of our designs Mr Pineda showed us some steps, first you had to find a spot on your t-shirt then put scrap paper underneath this square thing which will not get anything on. As you painted over this fabric you had to hold the square thing steady, it was pretty hard to keep it still. Then you had to pull the square thing of really carefully, then you had to wipe the fabric really quickly so it doesn't dry up. After that you had to blow dry your t-shirt.

Immersion Assembly Term 4 2015

Today I had to write some paragraphs all about Immersion Assembly. I have written some paragraphs to show you what we have done on the first day back of school. I hope you really enjoy my paragraphs and please leave a comment.

Firstly team one was up, they are learning all about animals. Throughout the term, team one will be visiting the zoo to experience all of the animals at the zoo. They also had a karaoke, the team 1 teachers were picking students to stand on the stage and they had to sing Roar. Miss George pointed at them and they had to sing. Everyone was awesome at singing but there could be only 1 winner and that winner was Marika, she won a free trip to the zoo.

Finally it was team fives turn to do their item. They had a eating challenge with noodles and chopsticks, all of the team five teachers were involved except for Mr Wiseman because he was saying the script. When Mr Wiseman said “go” everybody starting eating like pigs with chopsticks. Miss Clark was stuffing her mouth with noodles she ate all of the noodles on her plate. Miss Clark won the immunity idol and all of the other contestants got jealous of her winning.

My highlight from the Immersion Assembly was team fives item because it was all about survivor and that all of the team 5 teachers participated in the item. I also liked that it was cool and funny that all of the teachers tried their best.

Riverside Camp 2015

What did you do during the holidays?

During the first week of the holiday's, I went to willow park with the riverside club. It was on a sunny Monday morning. 

As all the riverside students came to the school, we waited and waited for more people to come. When every one was there, Mr Burt and other people had to check our name off the list so we could be confirmed that we were there. When everyone was there we said the karakia and said my to our family.

When the bus arrived we had to load some gear under the bus because there was not enough room for all the bags. We hopped on the bus and then we headed of to willow park, as we were getting there my bus was nice and quiet. 

Then we had to unload the things into the Rimu room. We got into groups and took our gear up to our rooms. My room was so small,  it didn't have a window and it was really dark inside.

On the very last day is was really sad to pack up our stuff and leave it was really awesome there, many people missed their parents and other family siblings. But it was really good to say we came in second place for teams.

My highlight was that we got to play supper spotlight and it was really cool meeting new people who came in and out of willow park and it was really nice to see the willow park members again.

What I Have Learnt This Week! 18/09/15

What I have been learning this week in maths. During every maths time this week I have been learning how to solve angels, my group for maths had to play a game it was all about angels. When we played this game we thought it was going to be easy, but when we played it was hard. As I was playing it I got better and better at them, when you got a question right you had to take a screenshot and put it on a presentation, Miss Moala made for us.

What I have been learning this week in Literacy. During every session this week in literacy my reading group has been learning all about thirst, thirst is a book we have been learning this week we have been reading and reading all about it. When we had information all about the book we had to answer all of the questions in a presentation, I have finished my presentation all about thirst.

What I have Learnt This Term

What I have Learnt This Term. What I have learnt this term is to show what awesome looks like to people around the school and people who come from different country's.

During maths I have learnt how to solve division and multiplication very quick. I have also learnt how to solve different kinds of problems, using different kinds of strategies like multiplication, division, subtractions and addition. It is awesome learning new things maths because it is good to learn new things. In inquiry we are learning about save, spend and share it is all about money. It is good to learn new things in inquiry because you could get smarter and smarter.

Maths Work

My maths group have been working on a double number line. Me and Rowana has been working on this presentation, we have answered all of the problems and we got them checked. What I have Learnt This Week!

What I have learnt this week in Numeracy and Inquiry.

In inquiry we are learning all about save, spend and share. My class has been working on a presentation for a couple of days now and it is all about money. I have been working on a presentation, it has loads of questions and I had to answer them. Some questions were very hard to answer so I had help with them from the teachers.

What I have learnt in numeracy is how to solve ratio problems. I have learnt how to solve them using google drawing and using google presentation. My maths group has been learning alot about ratios and we have been learning how to use different skills and strategies. We learnt how to solve them using multiplication and division.

The Break Way - Concept Circle

Today my reading group got to do a activity for reading. The task we were given is called The Break Way, to go with the story we had to do a concept circle. You had to find the keywords in a text and we had to write them into this circle, these are the words I found in the text. Here is my concept circle I have finished.

Grocery Store Mistake

Today Mrs Moala showed us a picture that her friend shared to her. My maths class has figured out that a grocery store in Australia is giving the wrong prices to customers. So the first mistake they have made is that each avocado is $2.00 so if you buy 2 avocados that would be $4.00 so the sign should say any 2 for $4.00. The next mistake they have made is the they aren't even avocados their Red Caspicans. Here is a google drawing, what this picture is exposed to look like.

Money: How Much Is It?

Today my maths group got to work with money, we had to add up all of the money. It was kind of easy because it was easy to add up all of the money together. This is the presentation I just finished. This is what I have done I hope you enjoy.

People in the world can receive money by doing lots of different chores. Lots of people in the world can also, spend money in many different ways, for example they could spend their money, on their parents and family.

How do I receive money? I receive money by doing chores around the house, or by cleaning my room and sometimes my mum and dad will just give me money. Another way I receive money is by helping outdoors with my mum.

Paragraph 3

How do I spend money? I spend my money by buying clothes, food, sweets and even more. Sometimes I just save my money for special occasions.

Conclusion

I could even earn money in different ways, I could spend my money in many different ways, like buying a gift for someone. I could even save my money for massive things.

Immersion Assembly Term 3

On the first day of school we had a Immersion Assembly at Pt England school, this term we are learning about Trade & Enterpri$e.

First team up was team one, they are learning about how to earn money and how to spend there money. How team 1 students earn their money? Team one students can earn their money by cleaning the classrooms, helping other people in the class and by cleaning their own mess up.

Next team was team two, they are learning about ice cream. They will be learning who likes which flavour's for an example 14 kids like chocolate and 10 kids like vanilla so it mean people should make more chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla.

Team three was up next, they were talking about what kind of jobs do you wanna be when your'e older, their were lots of different kinds of ideas from students, for example one person wanted to be a fire engine and another person wanted to be a basketball coach.

My 3 Highlights From This Term Was.

This is what I really enjoyed in term 2, these are my paragraphs about what I loved in term 2. So this term I really enjoyed it but next term is going to be even better.

My 3 highlights from this term was:

1) Getting to play with my friends.

2) Meeting new people in different classes.

3) Having many experiences with the year 8s.

In term 3, I need to improve on my reading, because my reading test this term was very very bad. That is why I need to keep reading in the holidays, and next term I want to do better do better.

Before the year ends I wanna finish all of my work from Literacy, Maths and home class. I will try my very very best to get everything finish.

Areas and Perimeters

For the past 2 weeks my maths class has been working on how to solve Areas and Perimeters. What I  learnt is to solve Areas and Perimeters. Mrs Moala gave us a project to work on, the first project Mrs Moala gave us was to draw our name on a piece of paper and we had to put them on the wall. The second project we had to do was we had to make our dream house on a piece of paper too, this is my artwork.

P.E.S Should Not Have School Uniform!

Today my literacy class had to write a persuasive paragraph. Our topics were P.E.S Should Not Have School Uniforms and the other one was Cell phones should be banned at school, the one I picked was the first one. Here is my persuasive paragraph. I hope you enjoy.

We should not have school uniforms because all of the students at Pt England School look the same. School uniforms should also be banned because people could not afford new uniforms to wear.

Also when you come to school in mufti in the cold whether, you have to get a dress pass from Mr Jacobson, and if a teacher asks where is your dress pass? You have to show her/him it. If you don't have one your going to get in trouble.

Last reason we should not have uniforms are because they will get dirty, your parents have to try and get the stains of your uniform and it will take 1 whole day just to get the stain out. Do you really want to waste their whole day just to wash your uniform?

Maths Progress 3

I have moved down because I wasn't listening to my team mates, and I didn't know what the answer was going to be. I have moved down back to blue because I couldn't teach other students in my maths class what the answer was.

Boy On A Bike

This article is about a boy named Mac Madsen, he is fundraising money that's going towards St John, it is going to St John because he wants to make more ambulance's for them. “How are you going to fundraise money”, said his parents? He said, “I’m going to bike up and down from New Zealand to make money."His parents were still carrying on there questions. He read books and found out information about cycling. Mac was alone nine years old, and 3,000 kilometres was a very long way. Him and his parents made up a compromise! He would cycle the length of the North Island, just a bit less than that half distance.

Maths Progress 2

Yay I am in purple I moved up three levels because I answered a question and my answers were 6x4=24m 6+6+6+6=24m and my last one is 6+6=12x2=24 and my best answer was 6x4. All the equations had the same answers.

Maths Progress

This is my maths progress, I think I am around orange because I can speak in a clear voice and solve a problem using one strategy but I don't ask questions when I am not sure. My goal for this term is to move up a level, I hope I can get to purple by the end of the year and then that goal will be achieved.

Maths

For the past few days my maths class has been working on a presentation in groups, the people in my group are Lizara, Quasia, Rowana and myself. This is how we worked out the problems in order. What we did first was 1 liter $ 2.06 then we did  20 x 10= 200 then we did 6 x 10= 60 then we did 60 + 60= 120 that's our answer. 

Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels

Today my reading group were working on a poem called Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels, we had to make a presentation about the poem and we had to make a google drawing. The three things we had to add in it were about the poem, all related and about the article. I hope you enjoy watching my presentation and my google drawing.

Maths Time

Today Miss Kyla came in to room 4 maths class, she talked to us about the 3ps it stands for Partnership Participation and Protection. She made a google docs and shared it with us it was really easy to do because some of the answers were already there. Anzac Food To Boost

I found this session at zeal zone pretty cool, because you got to make Anzac biscuits in a group of five, six or seven I had seven people in my group. Mrs Telea shared with us a presentation, and we got to fill in the gaps.

Mrs Tele'a gave us a question in the presentation and this is my answer I think some of the Anzac biscuits made it to the soldiers but the other half might of got eaten by the person who made it. What I have learnt today is a new recipe for home.

Future Aspirations

Today Mr Burt introduced Louis Gordon Latty, Marcus Winter and Andrew Patterson to us. Mr Burt said to us " Andrew Patterson collects people and connects people."

Marcus Winter, talked to us about how he got bounced in every job he applied for, but there was only one job who accepted him. Marcus Winter went from doing his arts in the streets, to his art in a massive ship. He talked to us about when he was little, he was the slowest person in his class to finish his handwriting. Marcus was put into this class with other children, he thought he was brainy but that class was for people who were slow at handwriting. Marcus Winter showed us a dance the song he danced to was Uptown Funk then he told us to "stand up."

Louis Gordan Latty talked to us about how we could record a basketball game, he showed us his basketball game from last night, but it was in cartoon characters. It was really exciting to see Louis get a goal for his team, everybody in his team were really awesome they keep getting the ball of the other team, but the other team keeps on getting free shots and some of the shots didn't go in that's a relief.

Technology At War!

WW1 started of in 1914 and ended in 1918 it took many years for people to forget about their sons in the war but some people never forgot about them. Then the people who didn't forget them waited and waited for their sons to come back home, when a ship arrived there was alot of people injured coming down the ramp. Their was only one person who people could not identify, but he will be known by god.

The Professor might of used the horses because they might of not wanted to damage the plane before they had hoped on. He might of wanted to shoot people in the war because he might of wanted to get back at them. The air a plane shot everybody in the war with the machine guns and other guns too.

I think they would have a device to talk to each army person so they won't be in danger, I think they should have a new phone like in 2015, I think there should be a special thing to reward them from fighting the other people.

Well I do, I have been working on this activity when you get to move the hands around the clock, when you play this game on Maths Whizz it is hard, but when you get used to it you will be a pro in no time. Maths Whizz

I have been playing on Maths Whizz and this Is what I have been doing on it. I have been playing lots of games and lots of tests, it is really fun playing all of the games because some of them a really easy, but some are really hard I get stuck on questions so I ask's Mrs Moala to help me, she is really nice. I like to play Matific because it is really easy to play and it is cool to play different activity's. Why I like to play Matific because we get different assignments to play too. The number one thing I like to do on Matific is to try and get five gold stars on each activity, then we might be able to get new games.

I feel really happy that you guys survived the ww2 and I feel really sad that the people who died for us were very young. Jim and Eric, you guys fought for the people in New Zealand. It is really good you got your younger sibling out of danger.

I was wondering if you got hurt or a bad injury i’m so sorry for the people who passed away in the war for just trying to save our country you are the best.

In Conclusion

It is really good you are looking after your younger siblings, what you did to them was to keep them safe, and because you really love them and you would do anything to look after them. Thank You Eric and Jim your the best.

Dear Gustav Guttenbeil,

I feel really sad that your father died when you were so little. I am sorry that I do not know what you went through. When you were born in Tonga you must of loved hanging out with your friends and family, but I am really sorry that you could not go back  to Tonga. Im also sorry that it was a big mistake to move to Germany even though you could not speak German. It is amazing that your mother is part Irish, she must of had an awesome accent. I would hate to be in Germany when I was little because Germans were really hard on children 75 years ago.
