Well this week we have been learning all about Pseudoscience, I got to make a google drawing about what it is. There is an example on my google drawing, and it says. Steps to make a paper plane
How to make a paper plane.
Make the main center fold
Step 1) Fold the piece of paper in half. This should bring the two longer sides together.

Fold the top corners to meet at the center.
Step 2) Open up the paper again and then fold the two top outer corners inwards so that they meet along the middle crease.

Fold down the point.
Step 3) Fold the point made in the previous step down to the crease so that the flaps are tucked under this fold. Now the paper should likely look like the back of an envelope.

Fold the New Corners
Step 4) Fold the two top corners created in the last step down to the center line, so that the points are about 2/3 of the way down the center crease of the flap.

Fold up the point
Step 5) Fold up the point that has been covered in the last step so that it the two points stay in place.

Fold the paper in half along the original center fold
Step 6) All the folds made in the last steps should be facing down. Now fold it in half.

Create the wings.
Step 7) Fold both side flaps down to the bottom so that the long edge of the wings are perfectly in line with the bottom of the airplane.

Angle the wings.
Step 8) Unfold the wings slightly so that they are sticking out.

Test your paper plane
Step 9) Put your thumb and fingers in front of the plane, under the two flaps. Then gently throw your plane to see how far it goes.

Immersion Assembly
Music started playing in the hall. As we walked through the open doors it felt like we were on a red carpet, with of our fans yelling and cheering, but that never happened. I sat down and saw Mr Burt and Mrs Nua making delicious fritters for some of the amazing students of Pt England School. The theme for this term is Ch..Ch..Ch..Ch Changes.
The amazing teachers from Team 2 was up. This term I think Team 2 is working on buoyancy, if you don't know what buoyancy is, well buoyancy is object's that float and that sink. Miss Eddie tested alot of objects to see if they would float or sink. Would a human person float or sink? What do you think?
The super duper teachers from Team 5 were up. Mr Wiseman's name was Mr Vottom and his assistant was Mrs Illaoa she was also called his slave. "Pop!" went the balloons all over Mrs Telea's clothes and head, the water went every where it was like she was having a shower. The fizz started poping out of the can it was like "pop goes the weezle." And last of all it was Miss Clark's turn the ice was slip and sliding down her back like ice skating.

Tamaki College Day Out
Today is the day we got to go to Tamaki College for an amazing outing. All of the Year 8 students got to go down to Tamaki College to experience classes we haven't learnt. Graphics were group A we got to go to two classes Mathematics and Social Studies.
The first class we went to was Social Studies with Mr Allison, it was our first time with him so some of us were excited. We were discussing with our peers how some of the students get to school. Some students get to school by walking because they might be closer to school, or they either got droped of by their parents because they live far.
The next class we went to was Mathematics with Mrs Dunn, Mrs Dunn is one of my favourite teachers at Tamaki College so far. I learnt at mathematics with Mrs Dunn, that you do not need to love maths or like maths but it is very good to have a try. We learnt about Expressions and Equations. An Equation has an equal sign and a Expression has no equal sign. People get mixed up with those kind of questions.
After morning tea we had Technology. Even though we stayed at Tamaki College for the whole day we got to still do Technology in our tech classes. The bell rang and all the students were laughing and yelling.
Then we had lunch, lunch was delicious because we had subway, fruit, water and a bar. Then we had English with Mr Stevenson he is very cool.
Last of to finish the day off we went to PE to play activity's and games some of the boys wanted to go out on the field to train with the year 9 boys rugby team, they also got a rugby ball to keep.

Tauhara Street
This week my literacy group has been reading a text called Tauhara Street. The text is about a mother and her son who were really poor, they didn't own a house, so they lived in their small car. The mother will sleep at the back and the son will sleep at the front. But the text ended out really well because the mother and son slept in a sleep out behind his teachers house.

Hiwi The Kiwi
We heard amazing voices coming from the hall it sounded the humming birds. We walked through the doors like we were amazing Stars, Mr and Mrs Minstrel were the lovely visitors we had yesterday. I learnt some facts yesterday about the ocean that adults didn't even know.
* The first fact I learnt was that it is good to wear life jackets on a boat because life jackets can save people's lives. Three men were out at sea they didn't wear any Life Jackets, they threw their life jackets to the front of the boat. Then the boat hit a log, but they couldn't see the log because it was under the water a inch, they went flying out of the boat and into the water. They didn't have time to run to the front of the boat to get their life jackets so remember always to wear a life jacket. (LIFE JACKETS CAN SAVE LIVES.)
* The Minstrel family shared to us was to NOT pick up a fish from the sea with a dry towel, you always have to pick up a fish from the sea with a wet towel. Because if you pick up a fish with a dry towel then you would might take off their skin or fins, on their body.
* The last fact that the special visitors shared to P.E.S was to always take ice with you when you go fishing because whenever you catch a fish you could put it in the chilli bin, where the ice will be and then the fish would be nice and cool.
* The second fact that the Minstrel family shared to us was to always wash a fish with salt water because it will make them more fresh and normal, but if you clean a salt fish with normal New Zealand water then the fish may taste yuck and it could die easily. Also because it could go rotten.
* You should take a ruler with you fishing because if a fish is smaller than 30 meters you have to place it back in the water to grow bigger, if it is bigger than 30 meters you have to put it back in the water too because it might have baby fish in it's stomach.

Cross Country Writing (Show Not Tell) 2K16
Yr 8 students ran past like a cheetah chasing its prey they were running like the wind. My stomach twisted and twirled like a machine, my heart started pounding like a drum. I huffed and Puffed like the big bad wolf.
I was relieved to see the finish line in sight, I heard the Roaring crowd cheering and yelling their lungs out for the competitors along with a thunderous applause. I clenched my fists as I past through the finish line, with sweat dripping down my face like a waterfall. I nearly dropped dead to the ground.

Gabriel & Saia Silicon Valley
Saia & Gabriel came to our school last term to tell us were they are going to, they were heading to Silicon Valley. They talked to us about were they are heading to and why they were heading to Silicon Valley. Today we had some special visitors from Tamaki College come to our school, Saia & Gabriel are there names, they came back to Pt England School to report back what happen during their amazing trip to Silicon Valley. The visited alot of amazing places like Stanford University, Google, Yelp, Microsoft, Xero, Facebook, Twitter, Apple, Ideo, Instagram and last of all Alcatraz. Alcatraz was the biggest prison in America, with top security but in 1963 Alcatraz closed because of three people escaped from the prison. When they were finished talking people started asking questions for Saia & Gabriel, it took a long time but in the end it was worth the experience.

Jacko Gill
Today we got to work on a Olympian from New Zealand. The Olympian I am working on Is Jacko Gill, Jacko Gill is a Olympian who does shot put. This presentation is all about Jacko Gill, I hope you leave a comment on my blog and Thank-You for visiting my blog.
The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)
Last Term our Literacy teacher read to us Roald Dahl's book called The BFG. Yesterday our class went to watch the recently released movie BFG (Big Friendly Giant). We were allowed to take Chips, a small can of fizzie drink and lollies as our treat. The movie was different to the book because some parts in the movie didn't even happen in the book, for an example there was a little boy in the movie, but in the book it doesn't even talk about a little boy.
My favourite character was the BFG ( Big Friendly Giant) because Sophie the little girl thought the BFG was a monster at first, but when Sophie got to know the giant she loved him as a friend. The BFG has a Sweet, Beautiful, Smart and he was a Fob because he couldn't pronounce words correctly.
The BFG is a really friendly giant because he helps children dream about amazing things. I Thought the movie was amazing to watch because it had alot of ideas and alot of detail that the movie is supposed to
have. My Favorite Part was when Sophie jumped of the edge of the rail and then the BFG caught her. Sophie jumped of the edge of the rail because she new he was there to catch her.
I Recommend this Movie to the little kids, It is awesome & you can learn a thing or 2 from this Movie.
I would like to say a big thank you to Mr Wiseman for Organizing this for Our Literacy class, I really Appreciate this.

Winter Learning D7 A3
My Paralympic sport would be called the Human Races. There would be a mixture of sports going on. You would have a buddy next to you to help you get through all of the courses.
If you were blind you will have to use your listening skills to listen to you partner guide your way through the course. If you were in a wheel chair your partner has to help you get all of the horseshoes in a bucket and over four bumps. If you were deaf you would have a sign language person to help you get your way through the obstacles.
There would be 5 different obstacle courses for each abilities to try. There would be signs everywhere to show you and your partner where to go. Well some of the obstacle courses might look like a maze. At the top this obstacle course would be for the deaf people because it would be nice and easy.
You start at the starting line then you follow the blue arrows were ever they go. There would be a corner at the top but I didn't know how to do it so I just did that, then you will have to push or kick the ball down the hill to try and get it in the box. If you don't get it in the box then it is alright. After that you will have to climb up a wall to get to the other side, climb down the ladder across the pond and then you will follow the path after that your done.
Three Rules:
* Finish it with happiness.
* Have a go.
* Try your best.

If I were asked to compete in a tandem cycling event I would pick Emma Foy to compete with me, because she would be great, supportive and encouraging even if she is blind she would be still giving it 100%. She would be an awesome teammate by helping me out and helping other people out.

Winter Learning Journey D5 A2
Back in 1936 a 13 year old American girl named Majorie
Gestring became the youngest person ever to win an Olympic gold medal. If I
was alive back then, five questions I would ask her are.
* How did you feel when you claimed a gold medal at only 13 years old.
* Were you pleased to be in the Olympics.
* If you had any advice for people that are younger than you what would it be.
* Were you very popular.
* And If were did you get your skills from your family members or you Top Idol.

From watching this Movie Eddie The Eagle, people didn't believe in Eddie when he was younger. His parents and friends new Eddie wanted to be in the Olympics but they didn't believe in him, so he gave up is dream of going to the Olympics for the Winter Olympics. People put Eddie down from his dreams but Eddie never stopped trying his best. I Think this story is about Eddie never giving up and that Eddie tries his hardest every time.

Winter Learning Journey
I would like to meet Lauren Boyle because she is a really good swimmer, and because she represents Auckland throughout every competition she goes to. Even is she comes 4th or last she will still be the awesome swimmer she is. In my opinion Lauren Boyle has a chance of coming first in these Olympic games.
Holiday Writing
What I have been doing during the holidays? I have been attending a Holiday Program down at the Tamaki Rec Center. The Holiday program's name is Tamaki Pride, but after these Holidays the holiday program wouldn't be called Tamaki Pride, because it's new name is going to be Tamaki Champions.
First Day: On the first day we got to introduce ourselves by telling everyone our name. When every had a turn at saying their name, Mike said the "Prayer," and then we got into the day. But before we played games we had to warm up so everyone went for a light jog around the Gym.
After that we got straight into our games. All of the kids got split up into two groups number 1 and number 2, if you were in group one your name would of been called The Chipmunks and if you were in the other team your name would be DIC (Dot Ink Champs).
We started playing the most common sport Tamaki Pride and that was Volley Ball, the Leaders down there help Mike and Margret to take care of us. The leaders run awesome games like Volley ball, Basket ball, Ball Tag, Octopus, Turbo Touch and such more.
My feelings: I was surprised to see a couple of new people who came down to the Tamaki Rec Center. It is going to be sad leaving Tamaki Pride behind but unless our name would be similar to it.

Winter Learning Journey Day 2
Winter Learning Journey Day 2#
I will be completing the bonus task for the Winter Learning Journey. I was asked to design a simple logo for the next Summer Olympic Games. The Olympic games will be held in Tokyo, Japan 2020.
This logo at the top represents Tokyo. The flower is representing their culture and the 5 rings connected at the bottom of the Tokyo 2020 represents the Olympics.

Milo of Kroton
Activity Number Three 2#
* Milo of Croton was a 6th century BC Greek wrestler.
* The date of Milo's death is unknown.
*Among other tales, he was said to have carried a bull on his shoulders and to have burst a band about his forehead by inflating the veins of his temples.
No Girls Allowed In The Olympics
Activity Number Two 2#
During the ancient Olympic Games, men were allowed to compete in the events but women were not. In fact, women were often forbidden from even watching the games. My opinion is that this rule is not fair to the girls. Even if they let the girls in to watch and show their sportsman ship to the competitors would be awesome.
Inquiry Rm2 2016 Flax/Harakeke
For the past 2 weeks Team 5 has been learning all about the four different wakas. These are the four teams Hokulea (Green) Hikianalia (Yellow) Te-aurere (Red) and Hinemoana (Blue). Last week every team 5 student go to fill out a form there are 5 choices Wool & Nail art with Mr Wiseman, Flax/Harakeke with Miss Clark, Crayon & Dye art with Mrs Tele'a, Sculpturing with Miss Berry and Logo design with Miss Muliaumasealii.
I am in Flax and Harakeke with Miss Clark, today we got to make a canoe out of paper and cardboard because we weren't able to make a canoe out of flax because it was raining, so we weren't able to go and pick our harakeke. The following Thursday we went to pick our Harakeke, but time ran out so the next day we got straight into making our flax canoes.

Activity Number One 1#
Today we got to do our first activity for the Winter Learning Journey. Our first activity was to pick a sport then we had to explain why we chose that sport. The options were running, wrestling, boxing, pankration, horse racing and pentathlon. I have chosen horse racing because I love riding horses and the other reason why I chose horse racing is because, I love trying new things.

Literacy This Week 2016 29/6/16
For the last few weeks Mr Wiseman's Literacy class has been reading a book called BFG. Every day Mr Wiseman, read's the BFG to us for 20min, so far we are nearly to the end of the book. There is a girl named Sophie she met the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) she thought he was really scary but when she got to know him she got used to him. Half way through the story Sophie and her new friend the BFG had to warn the queen, so they made the queen have a bad dream come true.
Then after we read the BFG Mr Wiseman tells us to have a "2min stretch" then we get straight into our literacy. First we read the whole journal then we have to complete our reading presentation. After we have worked our way through the presentation and after we have read the book, we go to the teacher (Mr Wiseman).
This week for writing we have been using personification and similes to make a poem up. Similes, If you don't know what similes are then here are some examples, As slow as a snail, As fast as a cheetah, As tall as a giraffe. Personification, If you are wondering what is Personification, well here are some examples of Personification, the wind whistled throughout the day, the wind yells while blowing, the car danced across the icy road. That's what personification is.
